Well, its been far too long. So, let me fill you in on whats been happening here on Iraq Summer in Central Pennsylvania.

Me and my partner, Eric Mosinger, have been thrown into a tough, but not impossible, situation. The summerlong campaign started back in mid June, but both me and Eric joined more than halfway through the campaign. Neither of us as any field organizing experience. So, of course, put the two of us together in a district that’s 70% Republican, and where the previous two organizers not only did nothing, but also burned a lot of bridges with local peace organizations.

To say the least, it has been a tough time. But, thanks to the great help from David Gibson of Coalition for Peace Action, things have gone well. On my third day here, we had our Welcome Home event at Congressman Todd Platts office, where we became the first Iraq Summer Team to get a meeting with our Congressman. The meeting was a huge success, punctuated by me having to keep the two TV stations that showed up occupied for over 45 minutes while waiting for the meeting to finish.

Now, we’re gearing up for Take a Stand Day, August 28th. If you are in the York or Harrisburg, PA area, please come! You can meet me (isn’t that worth it alone?) and we’re gonna have some great speakers. It’s at the Yorktowne Hotel, 48 E Market St, Downtown York. Click here to RSVP.

So, for the next week until Take a Stand day, we’re gonna be pretty occupied with the run-up to this event. I’m still waiting to hear from the Obama folks, if any of you are reading this, I’m smart and ready to work to get Senator Obama elected President, please hire me!
